How Often Are Fire Sprinkler Systems Required To Be Inspected , What Tests?

Fire sprinkler systems are required to be inspected Quarterly, Annually, And Every Five Years.  The inspections correspond with the timing.  Once every five years a five year inspection Is completed.  In the years in between the five years an annual is completed each year, in the moths between the annual inspections a quarterly inspection is completed every three months.  Each year a location will have (3) quarterly inspections and (1) either annual or five year inspection depending on which is due.

Are Quarterly Fire Sprinkler Inspections Required?

Yes.  Per NFPA 25 2013 California Edition, fire sprinkler system components must bet inspected and tested according to 4.4 System components shall be inspected at intervals specified in the appropriate chapters.  4.5 Testing.  4.5.1 All components and systems shall be tested to verify that they function as intended.  4.5.2 The frequency of tests shall be in accordance with  this standard.

How Often Do Fire Extinguishers Need To Be Inspected.

Fire extinguishers are required to be inspected (1) time a year as part of their annual inspection.  On this inspection a new tag will be placed on the fire extinguisher showing the date in which service took place.  The service will be good until one year after the date on the tag.  Also extinguishers are required to be inspected monthly and signed off on the back of the fire extinguisher tags.  Monthly inspections may be completed by the owner or owners representative, but the annual inspection shall only be completed by companies holding a valid fire extinguisher license.
